This morning the London Chamber of Commerce was buzzing with energy, music, and meaningful dialogue as we hosted our Black History Month event: Endless Possibilities: The Future of Black Entrepreneurship in Canada.

Presented in partnership with the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce and the London Black Heritage Council, the morning was dedicated to celebrating the resilience, innovation, and leadership of Black business owners and changemakers in our region.

From the stirring opening performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Raquel Dahlberg and Marque Smith, to the powerful keynote address, the event set a tone of reflection and future-focused ambition.

Key Takeaways from the Conversation

Guided by our facilitator Carl Cadogan (London Black Heritage Council) and Keynote Speaker Nadia McCormack-McIntyre, our panelists dove deep into the realities of the modern economic landscape.

Three major themes emerged from the discussion that will guide our work moving forward:

1. Opening Up Knowledge A vital point raised was that Black businesses must have streamlined access to news about events like this. By “opening up knowledge,” we ensure that every entrepreneur has a seat at the table and can benefit from the networks that drive business success.

2. Awareness of Growth & Grants Talent is abundant, but resources can be elusive. The panel emphasized that opportunities for growth rely on awareness. Entrepreneurs need clear pathways to learn about entrepreneurship fundamentals and grant opportunities so they can continue to learn and become better equipped to scale their ventures.

3. The Power of Mentorship Representation matters. We discussed the need for more access to successful Black entrepreneurs and mentors. By showcasing the great people in our city, we inspire other brilliant minds in the Black community to step forward.
