• The London Chamber Congratulates The 2021 Corporate Icon Award Recipient, Info-Tech Research Group

The London Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2021 Corporate Icon Award will be Info-Tech Research Group.

The journey of Info-Tech Research Group began in London, Ontario, in 1997. Starting with a conviction that IT departments need pragmatic guidance to solve real-world problems and achieve business objectives, Joel McLean launched Info-Tech, which would eventually become Canada’s flagship IT research and advisory firm serving clients globally. 23 years later, and more than 40,000 members stronger, Info-Tech continues to be powered by Joel’s vision, which is to provide unprecedented value to members through relentless product innovation.

In the early years, Info-Tech focused on offering research briefs and solutions to bridge the gap between business and IT, and growth was propelled by the launch of Consulting and Advisory services in the early 2000s. In 2010, Info-Tech launched its division, McLean & Company, a global HR research and advisory firm. Soon after, Info-Tech grew to deliver its highest rated member service, Workshops, as well as research-based Diagnostics to help members develop data-driven IT strategies. The next phase of growth led to vertical market leadership as Info-Tech innovated to develop industry-specific expertise and research.

Over the last five years, Info-Tech strengthened its Workshops, Diagnostics, and vertical industry offerings, including the launch of the world’s first sports and entertainment research center, while adding Counselor and Concierge services and growing globally. Today, the organization serves members across all key vertical markets including government, financial services, education, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and wholesale, professional services, and gaming and hospitality. Info-Tech currently has more than 700 employees across offices in London and Toronto, Canada; Las Vegas, USA; and Sydney, Australia.

Info-Tech continues to deepen its roots in London by investing in a $17.5-million, 70,000-square-foot headquarters on Ridout Street - the result of a group of heritage buildings renovated to create an office complex - featuring open spaces, high ceilings, and a beautiful terrace patio. The organization also remains committed to supporting new university graduates in London through its campus hiring partnership with Western University.

Info-Tech became a leader in IT research and advisory by putting the needs and wishes of IT leaders ahead of every other priority. This shaped the way the organization hired and developed teams, and over time, Joel and his leadership team created a culture of community, unified by the goal of delivering and growing IT’s value to business. This culture of connectivity is what fuels continuous improvement and innovation at Info-Tech and helps the organization build disruptive research. Info-Tech’s COVID-19 Resource Center, for example, has been featured in Forbes and is widely recognized as one of the most in-depth resources to help IT professionals lead during the pandemic.

Info-Tech also believes in giving back to the communities where employees live and work and supports local charities in London and elsewhere, including Canadian Feed the Children.
At Info-Tech, we are in the people business and we value a sense of community between our employees and members, so we listen to each other carefully, innovate purposefully, and connect deeply, “said Joel McLean, founder and chairperson, Info-Tech Research Group. “It is here in London that I learned the value of building a community, and I have taken those lessons very seriously. I still proudly call London my home, and I will continue to invest in its people as they helped me build Info-Tech from the ground up, strongly rooted in the values of giving and helping.”

Each year, the Board of Directors present the Corporate Icon Award to a corporation that has demonstrated particular excellence or achievement in business, making either an immediate impact on, or a substantial long-term contribution to, the economic progress of our community. Join us on September 22nd at the London Business Achievement Awards to celebrate the achievements of Info-Tech Research Group as well as our award recipients in our other categories who will be announced at the event.
