Re: Porter Airlines in London
Dear Mike:
Please allow this letter to serve in support of Porter Airlines consideration to service the growing market of London Ontario and surrounding regions through the London International Airport.
The London Chamber of Commerce and the wider business community in our CMA have been following the growth and success of Porter Airlines with great interest over the past number of years and we applaud the well deserved achievements they have been able to earn.
What we want Porter to know is that the volume of both commercial and industrial traffic travelling between London and Toronto each and every business day is not only quite substantial it continues to grow. Add to this the even more significant volume from our post secondary academic institutions and hospitals and you have a critical mass of travelers who, for the most part, need to find their way into the heart of downtown Toronto.
With the right pricing the market for London/Toronto City Centre traffic could be quite significant and the connection opportunities through Toronto City Centre on Porter to additional destinations in both Canada and the U.S. would be welcome alternatives to Toronto Pearson.
As with any of our members, the Chamber is always in a position to assist new services to our community to help launch their businesses and provide ongoing support through our many and varied membership services benefits and program offerings.
Should Porter find it beneficial to garner advance feedback from London's business community on the merits of service to and from Toronto City Centre, we would be only too happy to assemble a working group to provide the necessary input and feedback to help Porter with its business case.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or a requirement for additional information.
Sincerely,
Gerry Macartney, CEO
London Chamber of Commerce
