Federal & Provincial Affairs Committee
Meeting Time and Date
Meets the second Friday morning of each month at 8am.
Committee Objectives
- Leverage the knowledge and experience of committee members to achieve the policy goals of the Chamber aligned where possible with the Chamber's Strategic Plan.
- Inform and educate Chamber members regarding policy issues and initiatives
- Advocate for Chamber members at the level of the Provincial and Federal governments
2010/2011 Program Plan
- The committee will invite featured speakers who will be of interest to the committee and whose expertise will add value to the committee's issue-specific policy work.
- The committee will produce a minimum of 2 policy papers directed at Federal issues and 2 policy papers directed at Provincial issues. Said papers will be submitted to the Chamber's Board of Directors for review and approval in advance of the deadlines for the annual policy conventions of the Ontario and Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
- The committee will, where appropriate, liaise with the Chamber's Municipal Affairs committee to ensure coherence of policy and message.
- The committee will meet monthly to review the progress of its work, to review policy issues that may arise, and to conduct such other business as may be required of it.
- The committee will oversee the provincial and federal election readiness surveys in preparation for any announced elections.
- The committee will monitor the legislative activity of both levels of government
- The committee, through the offices of the CEO, will enhance the Chamber's relationship with all area MPPs, MPs, Cabinet Ministers and their Deputies.
