Volunteering with the Chamber
With a wide variety of standing committees, task forces and event organizing committees, the London Chamber of Commerce has many volunteer opportunities available for members. Find opportunites that best match your interests and expertise by reviewing our committees and events. Working together to make things happen is extremely satisfying.
The Chamber welcomes creativity and innovation and recognizes volunteer efforts and contributions. At our annual AGM and Member Appreciation event, we recognize three volunteers who have gone above and beyond for the Chamber, by awarding them a Past President's Volunteer Recognition Award. We also write a monthly Volunteer Spotlight article that is published in the Chamber Advocate and distributed in Business London magazine.
Volunteer Spotlight: Andrew de Boer, volunteer extraodinaire
October 2007
Andrew de Boer is so involved in the Chamber that he is as ubiquitous around 101-244 Pall Mall as his 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks are around the City.
"I've been volunteering at the Chamber on the Membership Services committee for about four years. I have done most everything from chairing Business After Five, to helping with Deck the Hall. I have also been on the Business Resources Committee, the new Special Events Committee, and the 2007 Golf Committee. It is not only fun but a great way to network in the business community."
Andrew is also a lead volunteer on the BizExpo2007 Tradeshow taking place October 23rd at the London Convention Centre. This is the first time in 10 years that the Chamber has organized such a large scale tradeshow and having Andrew participate on this committee to voice his opinions and lend his talents is one of the reasons the Chamber expects the event to be a great success.
All this volunteering and working makes for a very busy man. When asked what his hobbies are, Andrew replied, "after working and playing with my three kids - Jenna, Nathaniel and Reuben, and spending time with my wife of 13 years, Yvonne, you might find me playing golf or relaxing with some reading."
On behalf of the Board of Directors, members and Chamber staff, thank you Andrew, for all your hard work over the years.
